Why do I attend home births?
I want to promote the autonomy of pregnant women and those giving birth, and believe that each individual should have the power over their birth and their body. I protect the physiological birth and strive to create a safe, permissive and strengthening atmosphere together with "my" families. My goal is for you to enter parenthood strengthened after birth.
Childbirth is a unique and deeply personal experience, and I believe in giving pregnant and birthing women the tools and knowledge they feel they need, to make informed decisions that suit their own needs and desires. I support and encourage you who want to give birth attendend by me to take an active role, throughout the process. You are the one giving birth, and my role is to observe that everything is as it should be, and to disturb you and the process as little as possible.
By having a relationship already during pregnancy, we prepare for you to release and be fully in your body when you give birth, and that your body can work undisturbed.

What is the process like, if you wish a home birth with Barnmorskan i Bohuslän?
If you are considering giving birth at home and want to know more, get in touch here or via social media. We will make an appointment for an initial phone call.
During the phone call, I tell you about my way of working. We exchange information and get to know each other and your/your wishes as a first step.
We then book a learn-to-know-each-other appointment in about pregnancy week 30. We will then meet at your home and get to know each other further. During this conversation, we go through what you can expect from me, and find out what wishes you have regarding your birth. We also review your health and assess whether home birth is suitable.
If you/you then decide to give birth attended by me, I will book your place and set a time for another home visit; a preparatory conversation in about pregnancy week 36-37. During this visit you may have landed a little, and new questions may have arisen.
What does it cost?
The price for giving birth at home with me is SEK 30 000 (from January 2025).
To this is added mileage and in some cases travel allowance.
If you are having difficulty financing your home birth, we can help with an installment plan. I want home births to be tax-funded and recommend that you claim a economic compensation for your home birth from your region.
What is included in the price?
- Round-the-clock on-call for you for five weeks: pregnancy weeks 37+0 to 41+6.
- Four home visits.
- Administration, record management, birth notification and booking to BB reception.

Research on home birth
There is now a lot of research on home birth and the old "truth" that it is always safest to give birth in a hospital has had to be ironed out in recent years. When you plan a birth with me, you will receive individually tailored and fact-based information about the pros and cons of the choices you face so that you can make an informed decision. Am I allowed to give birth at home?
Everyone is allowed to give birth at home. It is a human right to choose the place of one's birth.
As a midwife, I assist you who are healthy with a complication-free pregnancy, are expecting 1 child and have an expected uncomplicated birth ahead of you.
I wish that you have participated in the maternity care basic program and that the routine ultrasound has been performed.
I assist you who live within about an hour's journey from Orust.
Why should you choose to give birth with me? Only you can answer that yourself. Above all, it should feel good when we see each other so that mutual trust can develop.
I can offer my expertise and responsiveness to your wishes. I always take care that birth should be an undisturbed physiological process on your terms.
I have knowledge and training in various techniques to help you relax and can also provide acupuncture for pain relief and relaxation if you so desire.
